Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good;
for his steadfast love endures forever!
—Psalm 118:1
Psalm 105:1-3
In song and in Scripture, in Word and in offering, from the lips of children and seniors, may this be a service of joyful, defiant thanksgiving. Come, let us worship God together. Come, let us give thanks with one voice.
O give thanks to the Lord; call upon his name;
make known his deeds among the peoples!
Sing to him, sing praises to him;
tell of all his wondrous works!
Glory in his holy name;
let the hearts of those who seek the Lord rejoice!
All people that on earth do dwell,
sing to the Lord with cheerful voice.
Serve him with joy, his praises tell,
come now before him and rejoice!
Know that the LORD is God indeed;
he formed us all without our aid.
We are the flock he comes to feed,
the sheep who by his hand were made.
O enter then his gates with joy,
within his courts his praise proclaim.
Let thankful songs your tongues employ,
O bless and magnify his name.
Because the LORD our God is good,
his mercy is forever sure.
His faithfulness at all times stood
and shall from age to age endure.

Tune (GENEVAN 134/OLD HUNDREDTH): Louis Bourgeois, 1551, P.D.
May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ
and the love of God,
and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with us all.
Amen.
If there is a child in your home, invite them to lead this simple prayer of adoration.
Gracious God,
for your creation and your care for it,
for your Son and our salvation,
for your Spirit and your care for us,
for your abundant, boundless gifts,
we thank you.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Gracious Father,
Every good and perfect gift is from you,
the One who does not change.
By your power, do for us today what you do every week:
call us forth through your word of truth,
that we might be the firstfruits of your creation,
a sacrifice of thanksgiving,
and a people who rejoice in all your works.
Amen.
Psalm 16
16 Preserve me, O God, for in you I take refuge.
2 I say to the Lord, “You are my Lord;
I have no good apart from you.”
3 As for the saints in the land, they are the excellent ones,
in whom is all my delight.
4 The sorrows of those who run after another god shall multiply;
their drink offerings of blood I will not pour out
or take their names on my lips.
5 The Lord is my chosen portion and my cup;
you hold my lot.
6 The lines have fallen for me in pleasant places;
indeed, I have a beautiful inheritance.
7 I bless the Lord who gives me counsel;
in the night also my heart instructs me.
8 I have set the Lord always before me;
because he is at my right hand, I shall not be shaken.
9 Therefore my heart is glad, and my whole being rejoices;
my flesh also dwells secure.
10 For you will not abandon my soul to Sheol,
or let your holy one see corruption.
11 You make known to me the path of life;
in your presence there is fullness of joy;
at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.
This is the word of the Lord.
Thanks be to God.
As recipients of God’s gracious gifts in Christ, we give joyfully as an act of thanksgiving. Freely we have received, and so freely we give (Matthew 10:8).
Before you give, we invite you to pray this Liturgy Before Giving —a wonderful prayer not only for ourselves but for our church, that our giving this Thanksgiving Day would flow out of the gracious generosity of God, and be a revelation of our love for all that God cares most deeply about.
The Deacons have suggested a variety of local and global ministries for your consideration. If you need a reminder, see the second page of our Weekly Announcements. This year’s Thanksgiving Offering can either be mailed to church or offered online via the Give button below.
Now thank we all our God with heart and hands and voices,
who wondrous things has done, in whom his world rejoices;
who from our mothers’ arms has blessed us on our way
with countless gifts of love, and still is ours today.
O may this bounteous God through all our life be near us,
with ever joyful hearts and blessed peace to cheer us,
to keep us in his grace, and guide us when perplexed,
and free us from all ills in this world and the next.
All praise and thanks to God the Father now be given,
the Son and Spirit blest, who reign in highest heaven—
the one eternal God, whom earth and heaven adore;
for thus it was, is now, and shall be evermore.
